Position Summary:
 

The Cost Engineer will be expected to produce takeoffs, use estimating software, prepare BOM’s for vendors, review specs & RFP as well as any other duties as assigned by Senior Estimator.

​Essential Functions

​

  • Learn the strategies and processes of the Estimating Department
     

  • Read drawings and analyze all other applicable documents to produce takeoffs
     

  • Assess projects by identifying project requirements up front regarding time, labor, material and schedule
     

  • Collaborate with team as well as outside customers to produce overall accurate estimates
     

  • Finish estimates in a timely manner as directed by Estimating Manager to ensure essential review time
     

  • Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
     

  • Preparing material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service
     

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
     

  • Managing bids from vendors and subcontractors
     

  • Using bid data to prepare detailed a cost analysis
     

  • Presenting prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders
     

  • Attend Job Walks as necessary

Experience/Education/Other Requirements:
 

  • Critical thinking, analytical and organizational skills
     

  • Basic understanding of the Electrical Industry & ability to review drawings
     

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
     

  • Basic computer skills and elementary knowledge of MS Office Products
     

  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
     

  • Interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
     

  • Bachelor’s degree or field experience desired
     

  • Will be expected to become ingrained into the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System)
